I’m Carly, the face of Sol Shine Doula services!  I am a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, an herbalist and a mother of five.  The seed that Sol Shine grew from was my first birth experience of my own – Sol is the middle name of my first child. I labored for days with very little support, and navigated a home birth transfer to the hospital.  At the time I didn’t even know Doulas existed. What I did know was that how my experience unfolded and continued postpartum, wasn’t right in a lot of ways. How could I go through such a transformative experience with little to no support? Since that time, I have grown tremendously as a mother, and a birthworker. I have trained through Birthing Advocacy and Peaceful Birth Company, and will continue to take the opportunities when they align to further my education and training.

In addition to birth work, I am passionate about plant medicine. I graduated from Equinox Center of Herbal Studies in 2018. In 2023 I took an extensive course through Equinox, studying reproductive plant medicine for fertility-menopause. This is something that l bring forth in my care as a Doula. Herbs can be used in pre-conception all the way through postpartum, for helping with everything from nausea to progressing labor, assisting your placenta delivery, postpartum mood disorders and so much more.

This is your journey. My job is to support that journey, and honor your being. I am here to help guide you along the way, teach you and offer resources. I want you to feel safe, heard and held every step of the way. I will be supporting you through emotional, physical, and mental well-being, along with advocacy. I have supported countless births including hospital, home, medicated, unmedicated, vaginal, cesarean, VBAC, home-VBAC, and high risk. They all look different, but my goal for every client is the same: I want you to walk away feeling empowered by your story. That YOU were in control, informed, and safe.
